About Devon Hardwoods
Established in 1985,
Devon Hardwoods are direct Timber Importers, Manufacturers and Distributors, delivering Quality Hardwoods and wood products to all timber users in the South West.
Since beginning as a traditional timber importer and merchant, we have continually adapted ourselves and our products to meet the changing demands of the timber trade. Increasingly our imports include machined profiles and components as well as sawn timber and products such as Oak are sourced square edged from South and Eastern Europe, as well as in traditional French “Boules”. In 2002 we moved to larger, self-contained premises and we further expanded in 2006 by establishing a Weinig equipped in-house machining facility.
Devon Hardwoods regularly supply many different timber users, whether trade or retail, master craftsmen, joinery works or bulk manufacturing facility. Hence we will readily supply quantities from boards selected to a customers’ cutting list or stock volumes, to packs or full artic loads.
Our timber is imported directly from
mills in producing countries, which produce high quality timber with
environmental responsibility at competitive prices. Although cheaper
stocks may be available Devon Hardwoods prefers to
maintain its standards, supplying customers with high grades of usable timber.
Where possible we will also visit the mills in producing countries
to inspect and ensure the timber’s grade and
quality. This has helped establish a number of long-term relationships
with producers around the world, allowing us to place contracts typically
4 to 8 months in advance. Thus we can also ensure both continuity of
supply and stable prices, when otherwise sourcing can be very difficult,
partly due to producers facing up to their environmental responsibilities
and also due to unprecedented global demand for timber from non-traditional
areas.

Stocks and Deliveries
As direct importers, every week containers and trailers arrive with new stock direct from mills around the world, to supplement a stock holding in excess of 40,000 f3 (1200m3) stored in our 70,000 f2 dedicated facility. We hold stocks of the majority of the commercially available Hardwoods, joinery Softwoods and related timber products (ie: Flooring and Decking). Where the trade, demand or fashion change, we will adapt our stocks or add additional timbers and products to our range.
Over our years in business we have established a wide network of contacts, so if you have a requirement not listed here please ask, we may very well be able to source it!
We have our own dedicated fleet of HGV’s and drivers, which enables substantial quantities and specifications to be delivered quickly and efficiently, with regular runs throughout the South West and deliveries arranged nationwide as required.
Timber Trade Federation
Devon Hardwoods is a member of the Timber Trade Federation (TTF) – the Government recognised organisation which oversees the timber products industry in the UK and we have been nominated as TTJ “Hardwood Trader of the year” on a number of occasions.
